Jaxtr is a social communications startup in downtown Menlo Park backed by August Capital, Mayfield, Draper Richards, Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Founders Fund and other top-tier venture investors. Our user base has doubled every month since the launch of our public beta in March, and we now have over one million registered users who have created a jaxtr link for their phone.


We are looking for our first UX/UI designer. This is a great opportunity for someone who is skilled at creating simple and intuitive web applications and is ready to take on the challenge of extending that paradigm to worldwide voice communications on mobile and landline phones. You will be working with a group of like-minded individuals who are excited to be changing the global communications landscape. We are a small team with big ambitions, which makes coming to work a lot more exciting!


Responsibilities:


  • Defining and refining the user experience throughout the site to achieve company goals
  • Designing interaction models, workflows, wireframes, information architectures, and user interfaces
  • Authoring design specifications
  • Proposing alternative designs for conducting A/B tests
  • Creating graphic elements and visual mockups that can be implemented by engineers


Qualifications:


  • 2+ years of startup experience–ideally at high-traffic consumer Internet site
  • Demonstrated experience in designing usable web-based applications
  • Expertise in graphic design, interaction design, HTML, CSS
  • Understanding of Javascript, AJAX, and Flash
  • Ideally, prior working experience includes social networking, user-generated content, viral marketing and/or online marketplaces
  • Solid academic background in human-computer interaction or related field (BS or MS in Computer Science or related field a big plus).

Responsibilities

o Determine the effectiveness of direct marketing activities through various analytical methods including but not limited to: segmentation, value schemes and predictive modeling

o Responsible for ensuring that quality and timeliness of measurement deliverables meet client expectations and identifying measurement opportunities within client relationships

o Manage vendors on a project basis to implement measurement solutions as well as single contributor on projects and tasks

o Work across offline and online channels to establish and maintain measurement infrastructure

o Provide leadership and direction to assigned staff on all aspects of client deliverables including preparation, management of project budgets and resource allocation

o Perform ongoing training activities to educate staff in strategic analytical concepts and issues

Qualifications

o Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a direct marketing agency or consulting environment preferred
o BS in statistics, mathematics, or economics, an advanced degree is a plus.

o Possess functional expertise in one or more of the following disciplines; database marketing, integrated channel marketing (including web), analytical tools, techniques, and other infrastructure requirements
