Assistant Buyer
The person in this role is responsible for:

• Supporting the Buyers in the product selection that sets Gilt Groupe apart from all competition
• Going on “buys†on a weekly basis
• Managing the Purchase Order (PO) process between Gilt Groupe and the respective brand
• Creating the Purchase Order (PO) for each buy or consignment deal with a vendor (retail, wholesale, Gilt cost and Gilt retail prices needed)
• Describing merchandise to be sold eloquently and effectively well in advance of a sale
• Delivering creative assets from the brand to Gilt Groupe's Creative Team in a timely manner (images, press kits, reel assets, samples for photo shoots when possible)
• Assisting in negotiating buying terms with vendors (price, quantity, delivery terms, and markdown $)
• Presenting new brand recommendations regularly to Merchandising Team
• Keeping abreast of industry trends and new product ideas by reading fashion magazines and visiting stores
• Building relationships with brands
• Attending to brand needs with respect to Gilt Groupe's website


Requirements:
• 1-3 Years buying experience
• Self-starter, ambitious in nature
• Love of fashion, avid reader of fashion publications
• Strong understanding of merchandising financials and the ability to mange profitability
• Knowledge of “Open to Buy†process
• Experience in accessories, RTW or footwear strongly preferred
• Experience in investment banking or consulting industries is welcome
• Ability to analyze reports and draw conclusions/recommendations
• Ability to remain flexible and willing to change strategies, as business needs dictate
• Ability to lead teams effectively and create an exciting workplace
