Demand Media is seeking inventive, ambitious go-getters fascinated by developing new media evolution who want to work in a fun environment with an energetic team. This position is located in Bellevue, WA.
Responsibilities:
• Establish benchmarks for system performance.
• Design and deploy a system monitoring plan based on established benchmarks.
• Recommend optimizations and reconfigurations as warranted.
• Address performance degradation, hardware/software availability issues, and server resource allocation questions as they arise.
• Work with clients, analysts, technical staff, and project team members to plan, design, develop, and deploy a plan to manage the growth of the dataset and system as a whole.
• Automate system administration tasks wherever possible.
• Perform standard windows system administration tasks wherever necessary.
• Oversee and/or perform all hardware and software upgrades and patches.
• Create system utilization, growth analysis, and capacity plans for distributed computing platform.
• Responsible for the operational performance, availability, and continuity of operations.
Requirements:
• Multi-tier and Clustered Server Architectures
• RAID Configuration, Monitoring, and Optimization
• Windows Based Performance Monitoring and Optimization; using tools such as perfmon
• Intel and AMD Based Server Platforms and Hardware Configurations
• Windows Server Installation, Configuration and Management
• Web Server Configuration, Performance Monitoring and Tuning, DNS, TCP/IP
• Hardware / Software Upgrades
• Knowledge of Clustering Technologies
• Knowledge of Networking Concepts
• Possesses strong understanding of Hardware (servers, switches, firewalls, and routers, etc.), concepts of Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, etc.), and Networking (LAN, WAN, etc.).
• Experience in a consulting role.
